The University of Huddersfield’s busy and bustling print room is a unique, creative space that provides students with a collaborative environment within which to explore the potential that inkjet printing offers their design process. The mastermind of Technical Manager Coordinator at the university’s School of Art, Design and Architecture, Stephen Calcutt, the print room houses a Mimaki UJF small format flatbed LED UV printer, a state of the art Mimaki Tx300P-1800 direct to textile printer alongside further small format transfer printers, large format graphics devices, plus binding and other finishing processes.

Under the theme ‘Shape the Future in Colour’, Mimaki will showcase its advanced colour additive manufacturing technology at formnext from the 13-16th November in Frankfurt. Haarlem-based Unfold works from a large industrial building, located in a large commercial zoning area. A common assumption for most production companies. What’s not so common, is that Unfold houses a huge range of heavy production printers, yet very few people to operate them. Owner of the company, René Spanger, does most of it all by himself. Just recently, he upped his own game and invested in a 3,20-meter-wide Mimaki printer with UV-curing. The UJV55-320 is a big whopper – crucial to be able to deal with the print demand at Unfold.

Founded by Mr. Edouard Borney in 1880, Borney started off in textiles, moving on to flags and banners in the 1920s, and finally expanding into printed fabrics in the 1980s. BorneyUK was established in 1993 and celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, as well as 138 years of growth for the company as a whole.
